HAIYAN PHILIPPINES DISASTER/ HASTINGS HALF MARATHON

Hastings Lions Club, organisers of the popular Hastings Half Marathon, have
agreed to put £1 from every entry fee from the 2014 Half Marathon Event,
towards helping the people recovering from the Haiyan Philippine Disaster.

This could mean a figure in the region of £5000 could be raised.

It is our intention to use the money, via our fellow Lions Clubs in the
Philippines, so that every Penny will be used with NO deductions, who will
advise and arrange what is best, to help the population recover in the
vital months to come.
This could mean supplying for example new Fishing Boats and equipment,
housing and Schools where needed.
As Hastings is a Fishing Fleet Town, we can relate to the basic needs to
feed and house and earn a living.
As entries come from all over the UK, and indeed The World, all entrants
will be able to see what we are doing, and we will update news of our
efforts on the Race Web site www.hastings-half.co.uk
Runners will also be welcome to raise funds for The Appeal in the normal way
of obtaining sponsorship for taking part in The Event.
