Hastings Half Marathon Prize Giving Evening, Sunday 27th April 2014.

At a crowded AZUR Marina last night, The Great EAMONN MARTIN(and still the last British Male Winner of the London Marathon), presented the prizes and
awards at the 30th Hastings Half Marathon Awards Night.

Before the Prize Giving started the great man gave a public interview, with his views on Mo Farah's London Marathon attempt, and kind words about taking
part at Hastings over the years, and being involved in the 30th Celebrations this year. He and his wife Joanne were spending the weekend in the Hastings Area, and were enjoying visiting the delights of Battle, Hastings Old Town
and Rye.

He was then kept very busy presenting many Trophies and Vouchers. Although the organisers had cut down on Trophies, they had increased the Voucher
Prizes to over £3000 in value. All of which had been donated by sponsors.

The Film of the event made by Bexhill College Media Dept. was also shown.

The highlights were Joshua Smith receiving the Leo Boardman Shield for his efforts in the Mini Run by taking part with his Zimmer, as Joshua has
Cerebral palsy, and at one stage could not even walk.

Louis Bedwell won the Bo Peep Special Award for pulling his trailer around the Half Marathon route for 30 hours, aiming to raise £10,000 for Cancel
Research. He is up to £7000 now so keep supporting him.

Ashley Varley won the Conquest Trophy for pulling/pushing young Christian in a wheelchair on Race Day, and raising £3500 towards the £30,000 life saving
operation that Christian needs.

There was a Special Lifetime Award presented to Derek Stevens (winner in 1985/6) for his support for The event over the 30 years.

All those Runners who had completed All 30' Hastings Half Marathons were presented with engraved Tankards.

The Winner of the Dyer Charity Shield, for the person or group raising the most money for a cause by The evening was Commando Fitness raising £6200 for
a Wheelchair for Isabelle.

The biggest winner on the night was the amount raised up to the evening, which amounted to £107,281,with certainly more to come. It is estimated that
as only a small proportion of Sponsor Forms or notifications are returned, the total amount raised is probably four times this amount.

The Winners of Prizes for Sponsor Forms drawn on the evening are:- Amanda Charlesworth, Lucy Davies, Jonathan Zinn, Dawn Forsythe, Barbara Cheshire,
Holly Harrison.

The event organisers, Hastings Lions Club, would like to thank all those who supported the event, in taking part, helping, sponsoring, spectating and
donating money, which makes the event worthwhile and enables the Lions Club to help others in need.

Entries are open for the 2015 event on Sunday 22nd March at www.hastings-half.co.uk
